So it was Claudia’s turn this month
She chose Hello Betty Retro fabric (which I have had my eye on for months now). When I received her fabric package I was so psyched….a) Hello Betty Retro and b) no rules! (Not that rules are bad. I can’t promise when its my month that I won’t set some ground rules!! ) I’ve been really wanting to try some paper piecing as in this string quilt example, so I chose that to be my first block. I used up a LOT of the fabric she sent but I really wanted to do more than one block for her. I took what I had and made a wonky log cabinish block. I threw in some of my own fabrics here and there for some spice (as she told us was ok to do) and also to get to the desired 12.5″ by 12.5″ block. I think the paper piecing could be QUITE addictive!!! It looks so cool, and its fun to do! Hmmm, the wheels are turning…

Now if only I could choose what my next project will be. I just got some new fabrics from Fabricworm and am in the process of building my raqua (red/aqua) collection. Not sure what type of quilt arrangement will showcase this color theme best. Any suggestions? I have seen it done as a wonky log cabin (always a crowd pleaser) and as a mod sampler quilt…though I was thinking of trying something different….paperpieced string quilt? strip quilt? ????????
Well, now that my head is spinning with ideas, I’m going to get to it. G’night everyone

I’ve become a big bento box fan but a spiderweb would be cool although very time intensive! What about a zig zag or something with triangles that would allow more focus on the fabrics?
i just started a string quilt .. 13 blocks in ..and I’m so addicted. I was thinking how great one would look with purposely chosen colours . mine is very random but I think it will work out . .
. . how do you get involved with a quilting bee?

Donna, I got involved with a quilting bee by being invited by one of the girls on flickr…just sort of getting to know other crafters out there…but you can search for them…I’ve seen lists, I just can’t remember where! maybe try googling it? its a lot of fun, I highly suggest it!
